Prayer and evangelism orientation

“Talk to God about your neighbor before talking to your neighbor about God”.

Ed Silvoso

We have developed these prayer points as suggestions for your consideration. We believe that the Ambassadors have been called by God and will be led by the Spirit to pray what is needed when it is needed.

Prayer and Evangelism

  1. Prayer: Talking to God

    1. We can hear His voice (John 10:27)

    2. God wants us to stand in the gap and pray for others (Ezekiel 22:30)

    3. God wants us to pray for evangelism (Luke 10:2)

  2. Evangelism is for everyone

    1. The saints are to do the work of evangelism (Ephesians 4:12)

    2. We are ambassadors for Christ (1 Corinthians 5:16-21)

    3. Everyone should have an answer for his faith, with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 5:16-21)

  3. Prayer, care, share

    1. Pray for the families

    2. Care for their needs

    3. Then you earn the right to share the good news.

Prepare Yourself First

  1. Get quiet before the Lord to shake off the distractions of the day (Psalm 46:10)

  2. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring you into the Presence of God (Psalm 16:11)

  3. Humble yourself and ask for God to remove any blockages like unforgiveness so that you can be a clear vessel for the living water (John 7:38)

  4. Pray you can manifest the Fruit of the Spirit, particularly love, peace, and joy, so the others will want to share in the abundant life (Galatians 6:22-23)

  5. Pray for renewal of your mind that you will discern God’s will for others (Romans 12:2)

  6. Pray for compassion and faith so your prayers will be fervent and effective (James 5:16)

Preparation for 2x2 Outreach

  1. Come into unity with your 2x2 partner so your prayers will be effective (Matthew 18:19)

  2. Pray blessings and God’s intentions over the neighborhood (Jeremiah 29:11)

  3. Pray for a spirit of receptivity in the people (Acts 2:46-47)

  4. Pray that God will reveal the needs of the people (Mathew 6:8)

  5. Pray that God will provide answers and resources for every need (Philippians 4:19)

  6. Pray that the people will make a commitment to Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

Praying for the people

  1. Before contacting the people, pray peace, healing, and the advancement of the Kingdom of God over their home (Luke 10:5-8)

  2. Before offering to pray be sure to address the physical needs, and follow through to meet needs even if the person does not want prayer. (James 2:16)

  3. For those who ask for prayer, ask what you can pray for them (Mathew 20:23)

  4. Listen closely to what the person says to discern underlying issues (Luke 6:45)

  5. Pray for the areas of need while listening to the Holy Spirit for guidance (John 16:13)

  6. Pray prayers of Agreement at the person’s level of faith (Mathew 8:19)

  7. Pray blessings over the person and the family (1 Peter 8-9)

  8. Solicit Feedback to determine if further prayer is needed (Mark 8:23-25)

  9. Keep your prayers short and to the point (Mathew 6:7)

  10. Remember to give thanks to the Lord (Psalm 107:8)

Sharing your faith

  1. If the person is a Christian demonstrate Christian unity and encourage them to attend their church regularly (Hebrews 10:25)

  2. If the person is not a Christian do not force a conversion but be prepared to discuss your faith with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15)

  3. If the person is looking for a church home give an invitation to your church (Mathew 25:35)

  4. If your Church is having a neighborhood event like a cookout, invite everyone (Luke 14:12-14).

Praying for Salvation

  1. If a person wants to commit to Christ , you can tell them that the Bible says that if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10)

  2. There are many versions of a prayer for salvation. We like the one given by English evangelist Jay John. Them ask them to repeat after you the prayer below:

“Thank you, God for loving me before I ever loved you. Thank you, Jesus for dying on the cross for me. Thank you that I can get connected to you now because You are alive today. I admit that I have lived my life without you and have messed up. I ask for your total forgiveness and I commit myself to you. Help me to submit my life to your teaching and direction from now on. I receive you into my life and ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Instruct the new believers that the next step is to attend church and be water baptized (Acts 2:38-39).
